If you have a twitter account, jump on and retweet today’s post. I’ve mentioned NHL Player’s Safety ignoring Gudas’s hit on Glendening. The more retweets and comments that it gets, the more they will see it in their feed. Nothing can be done about the last assault, but if enough people are paying attention and upset, it will greatly increase the chances that the John Wayne Gacy of the NHL will be on the radar. |

Interesting on the waiver wire. Matt Tennyson is on waivers. Not so much the player, but the relationship. Tennyson was at Western Michigan University around the same time as Blashill was. It’s doubtful there would be a pickup unless someone is injured. Still, 6 degrees of separation, etc. |

We have plenty of RD's and plenty of 3rd pairing or less defense. |

Agreed. Just always curious when there’s a close relationship/history. Like I’d said, unless there’s an injury we don’t know about it’s doubtful |

Deep, deep, very deep. Going from Stecher to Tennyson is a much shorter jump than going from Trouba to Tennyson! I get what you mean, though. Especially with him in NJ already, it would be a quick hit to get to NYR |

I could not agree more on both ideas!
First of all, taking a shot from Gudas like that, regardless of how anyone feels about the legality of the hit, without a response is just sending a huge message to the league that this team is willing to be pushed around and taken advantage of. Take it now, you'll take it all year.
As for the PP, I agree that now is the time to simplify things. Get bodies and pucks to the net. Rebounds, deflections, screens.... they may not be pretty but they appear the same on the game sheet as a pretty tic-tac-toe play. The reality is that our current personnel lends itself better to this approach anyways. |

Sheesh, where to begin...…
Not a big SW fan, so Jabbra the Butt is lost on me (whatever his name is...). Here's what I know;
- Baby Steps to The Elevator: ("What About Bob" - Great Bill Murray flick). We keep steppin', a little bit at a time and things will get better. The wait is painful; agonizingly painful.
- If you Build It, He Will Come: Costner went out on a limb to trust a voice from he knew not where. From the corn came his father, and he had the chance to live a dream. If Stevie can build a good team, many will want to come. But like Costner, the Wings need a leader (James Earl Jones, a guide, a mentor...). Not matter how much building is done, no one will want to come until we find our James Earl Jones to guide us...
- This Is My Rifle, This Is My Gun!: The Wings desperately need heavy, sustained shots on goal. Can't happen without Gunnery Sergeant Hardmann, your Senior Drill Instructor; (See "IYBI, HWC" - above). Someone needs to organize this team, direct them, train them, drive them, beat them down & build them back up.....
- Toe Blake!: Sensing a trend here? Me, too.
- "That ball wouldn't have been out in some parks." "Name One." "Yellowstone." As bad as we feel, someone needs to pick us up (for the blog, Jeremy does this job with ease; for the team - we need some D and a better C). H2 has said it a few times, Jeremy alluded to it as well; something feels off with the silence from The Captain; it might be that a move is afoot to help "...ease his (our, sic) pain..."
So I could go on, but all of the analogies in the world aren't going to make anything different. The PP sucks. Badly. It's disorganized, disheveled, dismal, disgusting. Role 3 lines and stop with the magic....it ain't there. Shoot like the opposing G is a robber in a jewelry store. Blast him with everything, then throw the kitchen sink at his ass. Crash the net, get in the guy's grill Like Mel at his diner (who knows what TV show I'm alluding to here?????). Beat Their ASS. Take retribution. Make FL pay for the damage done, focus on Gudas - laser focus on pushing his buttons. Screw it; let Mantha throw hands. Then, get Smith up there to finish it. Get ugly. Go all "Slapshot" on Florida. Leave nothing but battered semi-conscious bodies.... Suspensions? Ok. So what?! It's WAY past time to take a stand. We need our "..Agent Orange (to - sic) ack up..."
That's what I want to see. Carnage. "Hockey is carnage." Controlled chaos. Shots from everywhere, bombard the net with pucks & bodies. (frank) Puck Luck, make our own. |

What about Bob is awesome. Baby steps, and how! Bob’s sailing posture may be a good way for fans to watch! Tied to the mast and yelling!
Love the take brother

Tonight going to be the night where the PP finally scores?
I'm still going to plead my case that Gagner needs to be bounced off the 2nd unit and let Glendening take the faceoffs, it's been the same two units basically through this entire slump and it's not working. Last game was promising, Zadina was blasting clappers from the right circle and they just kept feeding him. I think he needs to be about a yard closer to the net, but it was encouraging at least to see the cycle happening and shots getting on net, instead of 10-20 seconds of pressure and them fetching the puck in their defensive zone the rest of the time.
It's looking like top two lines tonight are Zadina, Larkin, Mantha and Ryan, Fabbri, Brome, so Brome and Mantha swap and maybe there's some production to be had. Brome and Larkin wasn't working at all, at least last season we saw some production with Larkin and Mantha playing together.
They are saying Bertuzzi likely not returning until after the weekend now. Biega recalled from the taxi squad and Helm a game time decision, not sure if another defensemen won't be playing or if they are carrying 7 this game for some reason.
Hoping for a good effort tonight, LGW! |

Sometimes I ask myself, would I be watching this if I weren’t blogging tonight. No, no I probably wouldn’t. What a beating |

I'm getting that vibe that this is gonna be like a 9-2 final, or something in that vicinity. They just look tired and not into it like they were last game. Granted they are playing a lot of games this stretch, with basically one game off one game on in recent memory. You hate to see it. |

I don’t think I can watch anymore either 🤦♂️ Stevie needs to get blashill out of here. I know it doesn’t solve 80% of our problems but I feel like it might motivate these guys. Larkin doesn’t look the same this year... |

The goaltending is much better but what I did not think was possible the team has got worse. Starting to lose my trust in Yzerman anyone that understands hockey can see that blashill needs to move and Plse bring his coaching staff with him. I heard there is a team in the North West Territories looking for a coach . |

First period thoughts are up. The best thing any Detroit player can do at this point in the game is put Gudas on IR
irst period summary - it may be time to instill a mercy rule. Or, let the coach forfeit at some point. Detroit took a timeout after going down 3-0 and had a momentary glimpse of hope as Ryan ripped a beautiful low slapshot. 69 seconds later Barkov popped in a puck that should have been covered. As disappointing as the score is, Detroit’s response is sickening. Barkov went sliding in to pop that in, someone needs to rough him up at that point. Instead the team just stands there and watches. No hits, no passion. At this early point in the season, the team looks like they’ve stopped caring. The best thing anyone on Detroit can do tonight is put Gudas on IR. That, at least, will show that they care about their teammates. They’d probably get “thank you” cards from 29 teams in the league if they managed to do it.

I wonder if Larkin is playing injured, he's been damn near invisible tonight, and seems to be slower on the puck when he's out there. |
